Get set up

REGISTER

Sign up to the carbon calculator by creating a new user account, filling in your details and typing in your company name.

Select your company if it appears, and if not you'll be guided through setting up the company once you've verified your email address.

If your company already exists, your request to join will be sent to the admin(s), who will need to approve it.

CREATE A NEW COMPANY

If your company doesn't already exist, once you've verified your email, you'll be guided through the short set up process.

Congrats - you're now the company admin!

LOG IN AND EXPLORE

Once set up, log in, select the company, and you'll land on the Projects page showing you two tabs, Early Insights and Final Footprints, and the + Add button.

Admins can also view and edit company settings (including selection of a parent company and viewing child companies) and manage users by clicking on the company name/logo top right.

PROJECT TYPES

If you're unsure whether to create an Early Insight or a Final Footprint, this video walks you through the key differences between the two features.

Early Insights: whilst scripting, planning and bidding

ADD NEW

After clicking + Add on your Projects page, select Early Insights and enter the information required on the pop up, including whether a shoot is happening or not.

You can always edit the details later.

Note that only those in your company can see an Early Insight you create.

FILL IT IN

Work through each activity area, completing them as best you can with the knowledge you have at this early stage.

ANALYSE AND SHARE IT

The pie chart displays the co2e for each activity area, so you can adjust your approach and try to reduce the most significant areas first.

Once you're done, you can download a PDF of your Early Insight. These can be easily included with budgets and treatments when submitting a bid.

If an Early Insight isn't detailed enough for your project, create a Final Footprint instead.

COMPARE PRODUCTION OPTIONS

Want to compare two different production routes? Either create two Early Insights, or use one and try different shoot locations, studio types and so on, re-estimating each time you make a change.

Ideas:
- Local vs further away
- Virtual studio vs traditional
- Beef vs no meat
- Location vs set build
- Live action vs animation
- Extra large set build and studio vs small set build and studio

Final Footprints: whilst wrapping

ADD NEW

After clicking + Add on your Projects page, select Final Footprint and enter the information required on the pop up. You can always edit the details later.

You'll be taken to the project overview page.

ADD OTHER COMPANIES

To add the brand, agency, production company or production consultancy click 'Details', and then 'Manage' on the side panel.

Search for the company's name and add them. Not there? Email them a link to sign up.

Note that only the company who created the project can see the budget, if entered.

FILL IT IN

Add the activity information as relevant to your project in the pre-production, shoot and post-production segments, using your budget and any wrap or reconciliation documents as a guide.

You will also be able to see any activities input by companies collaborating on the project, but you will not be able to edit them (and vice versa).

As you work through your footprint, the analytics tab will display the co2e for each project stage, and activity area, so you can see which production elements had the biggest impact.

FINISH YOUR FINAL FOOTPRINT

When all activities have been entered by each company involved, mark your project as finished, by clicking 'Details' and then 'Mark as Finished'.

You can always reopen it if you need to edit, remove or add an entry.

DOWNLOAD YOUR DATA

Projects that are marked as finished will be included in AdGreen’s Annual Review, as part of the anonymous data we share with the industry.

If you want to analyse multiple Final Footprints to understand your footprints in more detail, you can export the project data to an excel file by clicking on the three dots top right, on the project list page.

ANALYSE YOUR DATA

Drill down into your Final Footprint data export using pivot tables.

Get stats such as:
- overall average project size
- average activity area spread
- highest activity area on average
- average project size by country
- average project size by brand

Use this data to inform longer term policy setting for reduction.
